Emergency Switchboard – Heavy Lift Vessel

Operating in the marine and offshore industry we’re used to working to impossibly tight deadlines.

When a fire in the emergency generator compartment of one of our customers vessels rendered it inoperable we were asked to assist with urgent repairs.

Within 3 weeks we had designed, submitted drawings to class for approval, built and tested the replacement emergency generator switchboard.

1239120311-43893100Working double shifts, we managed to complete the switchboard build within 6 working days from receipt of the materials and equipment to being ready for final testing and approval.

A comprehensive range of in-house testing and inspection was then carried out prior to attendance of the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping surveyor who then inspected and witnessed the following:

  • Primary current injection of air circuit breaker(s).
  • HV flash testing of busbars.
  • Inspection of creepage distances and busbar support arrangements.
  • Calibration check of panel instruments.
  • Full operational test including safety interlocks.

As well as designing and building new systems and equipment we also offer testing, inspection, servicing, modification and fault finding on existing installations.
